RECREATION & PARK DISTRICT PICNIC AREAS

The District offers several day-use picnic areas around Estes Park. All picnic tables are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Some are located in areas that require a day-use permit.

Most picnic areas have picnic tables, charcoal grills, and restrooms. Some picnic tables are covered.

When fire bans are in place, fire restrictions must be followed. Dogs on leashes are permitted.

Lake Estes Marina

Near the shores of Lake Estes, the Lake Estes Marina picnic area offers two covered picnic tables with grills. The picnic area has a small playground, public restrooms, and easy access to Lake Estes and the Lake Estes Trail for fishing, biking, walking, or just sitting by the shore and enjoying the beautiful view.

 


Wapiti Meadows

Located near the Lake Estes Marina, at the base of the Lake Estes Dam, the Wapiti Meadows picnic area is great for fishing and accessing the Lake Estes Trail. The picnic area has four covered picnic tables, public restrooms, and easy access to the Lake Estes Trail.

 

  

 

 


Cherokee Draw

Near on the south shore of Lake Estes, the Cherokee Draw picnic area has one large shelter with four picnic tables and nine small covered picnic tables with grills. This area has public restrooms and offers easy access to Lake Estes and the Lake Estes Trail for fishing, biking, walking, or just sitting by the shore and relaxing.

 

 


Stanley Park

Located south of Lake Estes (and just east of the fairgrounds), Stanley Park offers a variety of recreational facilities, including a playground, a pedestrian trail; restrooms; ball fields; tennis, basketball, and volleyball courts; a skate park; an in-line hockey rink; an indoor shooting range; and a dog park. Two large group picnic shelters can be reserved for a fee (see the Stanley Park section of our Web site for reservation information).

There is a rustic day-use area near the East Portal Campground that has four uncovered picnic tables.

Mary’s Lake is a great place to fish for the day; no picnic tables here.
